Iraq's leading figure Amiri withdraws PM candidacy


(MENAFN) Iraq's head of the Fatah Alliance Hadi al-Amiri was announced to be removing himself of the competition of the position of prime minister.

The withdrawal of candidacy is considered as a step towards establishing a new Iraqi government following months of political deadlock.

The leader's coalition had been struggling for the formation of the biggest bloc which was set to build the government while he assumes the post of prime minister.

Amiri stated "I would like to announce to the dear Iraqi people the withdrawal of my candidacy for prime minister, to open the way for serious dialogue to elect a prime minister and his government according to the vision of the supreme religious authority."
