#INDvsWI: These Indian players could get sacked from the squad
11 Sep 2018

Men in Blue have delivered yet another dismal performance outside the subcontinent, with the batting unit failing to live up to expectations.

India are on the verge of losing the 5-match Test series against England 1-4.

The team will be up against the West Indies, next month, at home.

Here we look at some of the players who might get dropped from the squad.

Squad numbers are crucial
Fact

It remains to be seen how many players, the selectors call up for the 2-match Test series. Against England, the BCCI selected 18 players and now against the West Indies, one expects a lower number given there are just 2 matches.

Umesh Yadav could face the brunt despite being impressive
Umesh

India are likely to go in with 3 pacers in the squad.

This will see Umesh Yadav getting axed, despite no fault of his own.

He has been impressive in the limited opportunities he has received.

But with Ishant Sharma, Md. Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in the mix, Umesh looks like a possible option who would be culled.

Nair and Shardul easy targets
Duo

Karun Nair has been a mere spectator for India in the last five Tests.

It is a clear indication that Nair isn't a part of the management's plans. This makes him an easy target to be left out of the squad.

Joining him will be back-up bowling option Shardul Thakur.

India have a bunch of pacers and Thakur hasn't played enough.

Dhawan should ideally get the cull
Dhawan

Murali Vijay was shown the door in middle of the England series and now another opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan is the likely candidate to be axed.

He has been awful against England and the selectors may be tempted to try out fresh faces in the home series.

If Dhawan is dropped, then expect him to be omitted from the tour of Australia as well.
