Africa: six die in landmine blast

(MENAFN) Authorities declared that six people have died in an explosion on an escort vehicle in eastern Burkina Faso's province of Gourma.

A landmine blasted when the vehicle, which was on its way to a gold mine, drove over it.

The deaths included five troopers and one civilian.

The country's military headquarters and the French embassy in its capital Ouagadougou have been attacked earlier this year by unknown gunmen, leaving eight troopers dead.
