(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah June 20 (Petra) - The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, on Wednesday criticized the decision to limit the cases in which the call for prayer can be broadcast on speakers.
"The call for prayer in mosques is a manifestation of my religion and is not a disturbance as the Israeli Occupation authorities claim, through its senseless thought and brazen interference with the worship of Muslims," Hussein said in a statement.
The decision to rehash this matter is criminal and extreme, and explicitly indicates the Israeli Occupation's racism, extremism, rejection of the other and the defilement of Holy places, Hussein added.
This attack on freedom of worship is a violent method carried out to erase all trace of Arabs in Palestine,while simultaneously ignoring religions, norms and international laws. Hussein called on local and international organizations, including UNESCO, to intervene and stop the repeated and increasing attacks on mosques and Islamic monuments, warning of the occupation authorities and their settlers' abhorrent racism and criminality against the Palestinian people, their sanctities, land and humanity.
The Israeli Occupation authorities will be held responsible for the provocations they've made which fuel the flames of hatred in the region, foreboding of a religious war with inconceivable consequences.
