Patriotic fervour marks the Pakistan Resolution Day in UAE

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Patriotic fervour and enthusiasm marked the 78th Resolution Day celebrations of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on Friday, when the UAE's military contingent participated in Resolution Day parade held in Islamabad in a special gesture.

Hundreds of Pakistanis gathered at the embassy premises as Pakistan Ambassador to the UAE Moazzam Ahmad Khan hoisted the national flag. The spirit was high as the national anthem was played and messages of Pakistan president and prime minister were read out.

Following the messages, Moazzam Khan remembered the sacrifices made by people to achieve a separate homeland.

"Whenever any Pakistani residing anywhere in the world faces any problem, the first thing that comes to their mind is about their country," the ambassador said to thunderous applause.

Khan highlighted the fact Pakistan has countered the big challenges of extremism and terrorism.

He noted the friendly relations with the UAE were getting deeper with a first-ever participation of the UAE Armed Forces in the Resolution Day parade.

"I thank the UAE Government and leadership for this gesture," Khan said.
He said the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a close friend of Pakistan and he used to consider it as his second home.

There were many cultural programmes held as students of Pakistani schools from the Capital sang national songs and performed dances. Patriotic songs like 'Hum Zinda Qaum Hain' and spiritual numbers like 'Dama Dam Mast Qalandar' fascinated the crowd.

Passing on the message of unity, members of the Christian community sang 'Hum Ek Hain'.

The ceremonies were winded up with the ambassador and other officials cutting a cake.
