Pakistani ambassador highlights strong ties between Jordan and Pakistan

Amman, March 21 (Petra)--Pakistani Ambassador to Jordan Junaid Rehmat highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Pakistan and said the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II could play a major in developing relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Rehmat said in an interview with Jordan News Agency on the occasion of his country's national day, that the recent visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Pakistan witnessed important talks with political and military officials.

"Both sides pointed to investment and trade opportunities in the two countries and stressed the need to increase trade and investments between the two countries," he added.

Jordan, the ambassador added, has many potentials and a relevant investment climate, noting that Pakistan will work to increase its trade and investments in the Kingdom.

The ambassador noted that trade exchange between the two countries stands at $70 million, adding that Jordan's exports total $25 million while its imports from the Asian country stands at $45 million.

On countering terrorism, he said "We support the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah in this regard", noting that the King discussed with Pakistani officials the importance of fighting terrorism.

Pakistan, the ambassador added, support the Hashemite custodianship of the holy places in Jerusalem as well as efforts of His Majesty to find a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue. "Without a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue, the region will not enjoy peace, security and stability, the ambassador said.
