His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani sent yesterday cables of congratulations to Ireland's President, Michael D Higgins, on his country's National Day. HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani also sent a similar cable to Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.

Qatar has strongly condemned the bombing in the Afghan capital Kabul which killed three people and injured several other. In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry reiterated Qatar's firm stance in rejection of violence and terrorism regardless of the motives and reasons.
