Bob T. Souder, MD, gastroenterologist and owner of TransSouth Health Care has been named a 2016 Top Doctor in Jackson, Tennessee. Dr. Bob T. Souder is a highly experienced physician, having been in practice for more than four decades. His medical career began in 1974, when he graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. A residency and internship then followed at the City of Memphis Hospital, before a fellowship in gastroenterology was completed at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Souder is dual board certified, in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology. As an expert in these areas, Dr. Souder diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, hepatitis C, cirrhosis, pancreatitis, gastroparesis, fecal incontinence, gastroesophageal reflux, esophageal motility disease of the GI tract, and peptic ulcer disease. Expert procedures carried out by him range from colonoscopy and endoscopy, to liver biopsy and manometry. Dr. Souder is also the sole physician in the region that manages Interstim device for fecal incontinence and Enterra gastric stimulator for gastroparesis.

With his wealth of top level experience, Dr. Souder is a gastroenterologist in high demand, and yet he still finds time to help community organizations and philanthropic ventures. These include having served on the board of directors of the Carl Perkins Child Abuse Center, Lane College, and the West Tennessee Council for Boy Scouts.
