UAE to remain Germany's biggest construction machinery importer
(MENAFN) Due to the increase in the international sales, German construction machinery exports to the Middle East have risen in 2017.
According to the Frankfurt-based Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), the UAE is Germany's biggest importer of construction equipment in the Middle East,
German exports of heavy-duty machinery to the UAE grew by 50% last year, the VDMA noted.
Germany's machinery exports to the Middle East grew by 5%, while overall construction
equipment sales in the Middle East fell by around 10% last year, the VDMA added.
A VDMA economist said that "German manufacturers continue to be optimistic about the Middle East markets," reported Construction Week.
As the UAE is likely to stay as Germany's key market for machinery exports in the Middle East, "in a recent VDMA survey, 40% of manufacturers expect this region to be among the major growth markets in 2018," he continued.
