Qatar- Ministry holds forum to boost research works

To boost research works, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment held here yesterday a scientific meeting, the first of its kind at the Ministry level.
The event entitled 'The Forum of Scientists and Researchers of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment. The forum aims at providing a platform to the scientists, researchers and employees of the Ministry to exchange their experiences in the fields of the environment, agricultural, livestock, fisheries, municipal works, urban planning and sustainability among many others in a bid to boost the research works in the country.
A total of 65 scientists, researches and senior officials from the Ministry participated to the forum. The Assistant Under-Secretary for Common Services in the Ministry Hamad Khalifa Al Khalifa, praised the efforts exerted in the field of scientific research, stressing the importance and role of research in development and the attention given to the human element as one of the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.
For his part, the Director of the Municipal and Environmental Studies Center, Dr Mohammed bin Saif Al Kuwari, said that scientific research is a cultural aspect that is increasingly needed to explain some phenomena or to find applications to solve certain problems related to practical life, calling for linking science and knowledge and their applications and how to obtain them with innovation.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Municipality and the Environment was keen to provide a scientific platform in order to promote the concept of science and its applications and to disseminate knowledge among scientists and researchers on the one hand and among its employees on the other by meeting them and benefiting from their expertise in its specialized and diverse fields such as environment, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, municipal work, planning and sustainable construction.
He pointed out that the existence of a plan to establish a database of scientific research and various studies that fall within the competences of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, as well as the names of scientists and researchers, in preparation for the project of the e-library that serve their strategies and objectives in the environmental and municipal areas in general. It should be noted that the forum included many events, such as a general symposium to promote scientific research, and field visits to some scientific experiments aiming at spreading the culture of scientific research, as per the information provided.
