A 22-year-old Filipino migrant, who came to work as a fisherman in Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan, has died after he and three friends had a fight with six Indonesians on a fishing vessel on Sunday.
The six Indonesian men, who were also fishermen, met on board the vessel Hohung No 168 early on Sunday morning for a meal and drinks, Liberty Times reported. The four Filipinos gathered and had drinks on the same boat.

According to police, the two groups had a conflict after having a few drinks and it led to a fight. The Indonesians, all aged about 23, grabbed aluminium bars and wooden rods from the ship's staircase and attacked the Filipinos.
The Filipinos also grabbed aluminium bars to fight back against the Indonesians, but they were outnumbered.
Two Filipinos, named Antolin and Alejandro, 23 and 26, respectively, tried to escape by jumping overboard. However, Antolin was pronounced dead after he was sent to a hospital, while Alejandro and two other Filipino men, named Agudera and Bayaua, were seriously injured, China Times reported.
Damage done to the fishing vessel was put at NT$200,000 (US$6,665). The owner has allegedly said he will seek compensation from the Indonesian fishermen.
The Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office is investigating the case.
