Shootout between PKK, Turkish army in country's Tunceli province

A shootout between the Turkish army and the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) terrorist group has occurred in eastern Turkey's Tunceli province, the country's media reported Nov. 16.
Four members of the PKK were killed in the shootout, according to the report.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
