First sentenced for FIFA corruption


(MENAFN) The first person to be sentenced in a US investigation into corruption in FIFA is a former judge from Guatemala who led the football federation of his country.

When Hector Trujillo pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy, he was sentenced to eight months in prison.

He confessed of taking about 200,000 USD in bribes from a sports marketing firm.

He also confessed of offering media and marketing rights to Guatemala's World Cup qualifier matches for bribes.
