Jordanian street voices anger over Al Aqsa restrictions
Israeli measures have included the installation of metal detectors at entrances to Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, which Palestinians reject since they view the move as Israel asserting further control of it, Agence France-Presse reported.
In downtown Amman, protesters in the capital marched from Al Hussein Square to denounce the Israeli measures at Al Aqsa, while in Zarqa, 22km east of Amman, activists and political parties marched from the Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque. Also on Friday, activists in Karak, 140km south of Amman, marched from Al Omari Mosque Square, where they called on the Islamic and Arab world to stand up against Israeli aggression.
In Salt, 35km northwest of the capital, demonstrators also protested against the measures which also included Israel's barring of men under 50 from entering the Old City for prayers.
