Oman- MoAF looking to Thailand for fisheries development

H E Dr Hamad bin Said al Oufi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries received in his office last week a delegation from Thailand, led by deputy secretary general in the Foreign Ministry.

H E Dr Oufi briefed the delegation on projects in the fisheries sector and investment opportunities, besides the role of research centres in developing the sector in the sultanate. The meeting discussed issues of common concern related to the fisheries sector and means of enhancing cooperation and exchanging practical expertise.

The mechanism of conducting research and scientific studies were also reviewed. The delegation visited fisheries research centres of the ministry, besides familiarising with work progress and research outcomes. It also visited some fishery companies in the Governorate of Muscat.

The delegation included officials and researchers in the fisheries sector as well as Thai investors and businessmen in the field of aquaculture and fishery industries.
