Airbus projects USD590b in airplane purchases for MENA
(MENAFN) Airbus, the European multinational aerospace and Defense Corporation expects the Middle East to require 2,460 new aircraft worth USD590 billion through the next 20 years.
This staggering number is attributed to the strong growth which will occur, driven mainly by the regions big three carriers Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways, which will alone need 1,800 aircrafts.
Moreover, unlike elsewhere in the world where single aisle aircraft sales dominate, Airbus anticipates the Middle East will mainly require twin aisle and very large aircraft over the mentioned period.
However, the France-based behemoth's chief executive officer explained that "Egypt is going through a rough period with tourism down but aviation will be a big part of their growth going forward."
