Oman approves electricity projects worth USD600.2m

(MENAFN) Three hundred fifty-nine projects with a total value of around USD600.2 million were approved by licensed operators last year to enhance the electricity network in Oman.

The projects were approved by Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC), Majan Electricity Company, Mazoon Electricity Company and others.

Mazoon accounts for 12 percent of projects by value, Rural Areas Electricity Company for 11.5 percent, MEDC 10.1 percent, Dhofar Power Company 9.2 percent and Majan 4.8 percent.

"OETC accounts for 52.5 percent of approved projects by value, which reflects the significant investment made to connect and transport electricity from new production facilities," official report showed.
