(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul july 04 (qna) --- chinese president xi jinping has reiterated opposition to the existence of nuclear weapons on the korean peninsula.
on the second day of his state visit to south korea on friday the chinese president spoke at seoul national university reaffirming beijing's opposition to a nuclear north korea yonhap news agency reported on friday.
during the lecture xi again called for resolving the nuclear issue through dialogue and hoped for inter-korean relations to improve.
xi also expressed support for the two koreas to realize a peaceful independent unification. he said unification can be achieved if the south and north join efforts and continuously improve their relations.
xi also used the opportunity to underline the need for south korea and china to come together to respond to japan's denial of its past aggression. the chinese leader said korea and china have always helped each other to overcome past crises.(qna)
