Apollo opens robotics surgery helpline plans hospital in Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Under plans to expand activities and offer better healthcare facilities, India's Apollo Hospitals Group will soon be setting up a full-fledged hospital in Oman.

''Building a full-fledged hospital would require several clearances from the administration and authorities. There are people already working towards it. As soon as we will get the clearances, work towards a well-equipped hospital will start," said Dr Prathap C Reddy, chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration on Thursday of the robotic surgery helpline that will be available at the Apollo Medical Centre.

''The operation theatre will soon be ready and will be available for everyone. We are trying to iron out the blockages. There are certain regulations that need to be put in place and we are working towards it," he added.

The new robotic phone consultation helpline, which will be available in Oman within a month, will guide patients to their respective doctors for consultation. Patients will be recommended treatment in India only if required.

The facility will also offer robotic surgeries in urology, gynaecology, surgical oncology,   besides cardiac and spine surgeries. Patients in Oman can use this helpline to reach out to robotic surgeons in the Apollo Hospitals Group for consultations and follow up.

Medical robotics is the latest technological innovation aimed at making surgery more precise, accurate and safe.

Apollo Hospital uses the da Vinci surgical system which is a sophisticated robotic platform designed to expand the surgeon's capabilities and offers a state-of-the-art minimally invasive option for major surgeries

"The da Vinci surgical system helps surgeons operate through small incisions.

''It features a magnified 3D high definition vision system and tiny wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human wrist. As a result, da Vinci enables the surgeon with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control,'' said Dr K Hariprasad, CEO of Apollo Hospitals, central region.

"It also enables faster recovery," Dr Hariprasad added.<
