Ban urges Chinese FM to use influence on Syria to stop killings

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon late Saturday spoke with Yang Jiechi, the Foreign Minister of China and urged him to use pressure on the Syrian regime to stop the killings. "They discussed the situation in Syria and the imperative need for the violence to stop at once," his press office said in a statement. "He called on China to use its influence to ensure the full and immediate implementation of the six-point plan and the Action Group communique issued in Geneva on June 30," the statement added. Ban is paying an official visit to China on Monday.
