Yemen: Saudi warplanes strike residential areas, killing 17

(MENAFN) Saudi warplanes targeted residential areas in Yemen's province of Sa'ada killing 17 civilians, including women and children, as the Riyadh regime presses ahead with its deadly bombardment campaign.

According to Yemen's al-Masirah television network, the Saudi-led airstrikes hit residential buildings in the Ghamar district of the mountainous province of Sa'ada early on Thursday.

This comes a day after Yemeni air defense forces, backed by fighters from allied Popular Committees, reportedly intercepted and shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter as it was flying in the skies over Sa'ada Province.

Saudi Arabia and some other countries attacked Yemen in March 2015 to re-empower the deposed president of Yemen Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Thousands of Yemenis have been killed in the Arabian-American coalition's attack and more than 2,000 have died due to cholera epidemic.
