CEO reaffirms commitment to elections on schedule
(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The chief executive officer (CEO) on Wednesday stressed the need conducting Wolesi Jirga, district council and presidential electionson schedule, seeking cooperation from political parties, civil society and people.
Addressing to a ceremony commemorating the 23rd death anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari at the Presidential Palace, Dr. Abdullah said that the late jihadi leader had left behind a great vision for equal law enforcement across the country.
€œWe have learnt so many good things from our elders, such as Mazari. If our behaviour is not like that of good rulers, we should confess to our failure to realisethe wishes of martyrs,€ the CEO remarked.
Abdullah once again stressed the need for holding the elections in time, saying: €œWe reaffirm our commitment to conducting Wolesi Jirga, district councils and presidential elections.€
The public expected the Independent Election Commission (IEC) would act independently to arrange the ballot and refuse accepting interference from the government, he said.
The CEO added all government wanted elections on time and the current one also supported the vote being held at the appointed time.Abdullah asked political parties, civil society and the people to cooperate with the relevant organs on the issue.
