Kuwait- Asian expats held in liquor factory bust


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: Three Asian expatriates were arrested from an apartment in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area where they were manufacturing liquor, reports Annahar daily. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen, acting on information and armed with a warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, raided the apartment and arrested the suspects. The suspects were put under surveillance for several days before their 'factory' was raided. Police seized drums filled with liquor and 2,000 bottles of liquor as well as manufacturing equipment.

Wanted man held: A Syrian man who is wanted by law as he was sentenced in absentia to 90 years on several crimes was arrested recently, reports Al-Rai daily. The man was walking along a street in Salwa area and started running as soon as he saw a patrol team nearby. He was chased and seized. When asked why he ran, claimed that he was not carrying his civil ID. At the police station, his fingerprints revealed that he was wanted. He was referred to the Sentences Enforcement Department for necessary legal action.

Fireworks seized: Customs officers at Shuwaikh Port foiled an attempt to smuggle fireworks which were hidden in a secret compartment inside a container carrying home utensils, gloves and other items, reports Al-Shahed daily. Necessary action will be taken against the importing company.
