Pashinyan Confirms Türkiye Visit for COP31 Climate Summit
(MENAFN) Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced Thursday that he intends to travel to Türkiye's southern province of Antalya to participate in the 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31), according to a state news agency.
"Yes, I plan to go to Antalya to participate in the COP," Pashinyan told reporters during a briefing.
The planned visit follows an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who extended the offer during a meeting with Pashinyan in New York in September. The two leaders discussed ongoing efforts to normalize relations between Türkiye and Armenia.
COP31 is scheduled to run from Nov. 9 to 20, gathering world leaders, climate experts and civil society representatives to address global climate challenges and discuss international efforts to combat climate change.
The conference's high-level leaders' summit is set to take place on Nov. 11-12.
