Ukrainian Caucus Co-Chair In U.S. Congress Marcy Kaptur Reelected To Another Term
With 98% of the votes counted in Ohio's 9th Congressional District, Marcy Kaptur received 52.7%, or 159,306 votes, while her Republican challenger, Derek Merrin, garnered 47.3%, or 142,830 votes.
CBS News notes that in October 2025, the northwestern Ohio district was redrawn, creating a more Republican-leaning seat.
In the 2024 election, Merrin lost by approximately 2,400 votes, a margin slightly above the threshold required for an automatic recount.
The election results were announced only two weeks after Election Day.
Kaptur, the longest-serving woman in Congress, has held her seat since 1983. She is co-chair of the Ukrainian Caucus in the U.S. Congress.
