False Bomb Threat Triggers Security Checks on Ryanair Flights in Rome

Date:

(MENAFN) Italian authorities confirmed Tuesday that a bomb alert involving two Ryanair aircraft arriving at Rome's Fiumicino Airport from Lisbon and Dublin was unfounded.

Police launched an investigation after receiving an anonymous warning claiming that explosives had been placed aboard both planes.

The aircraft from Lisbon arrived at approximately 9.40 am local time (0840GMT), followed by the Dublin flight, which landed at 10.44 am (0944GMT).

Security personnel examined both aircraft, along with passengers and their luggage, as part of the precautionary response. Specialized bomb disposal units also carried out inspections.

The operation concluded shortly after midday, with authorities reporting that no explosives or suspicious objects had been discovered.

The incident came amid a series of bomb alerts involving commercial flights across Europe on Tuesday, leading to security operations at airports in Poland, Spain, Bulgaria and Italy.
