Date:

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The NABU announced this, Ukrinform reports.

“The NABU and SAPO have completed the pre-trial investigation into a high-level criminal organization whose members established a large-scale corruption scheme to exert influence over the operations of strategic state-owned enterprises, including JSC National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom, as well as to obtain undue benefits and launder money,” the bureau said.

According to investigators,“members of the group systematically received undue benefits from contractors of JSC Energoatom and enterprises under the management of the Ministry of Energy, amounting to between 10% and 15% of contract values.”

The task of laundering illegally obtained funds was assigned to a separate office operated by the criminal organization, the NABU noted.

“According to the investigation, the amounts accumulated and transferred in cash from the energy sector to this office between 2020 and 2025 exceeded USD 111 million and EUR 12 million. Detectives also established that the criminal organization received funds from other sources,” the NABU emphasized.

According to investigators, various financial instruments were used to launder the money, including cryptocurrency, securities and a foreign investment fund.

During the investigation, the NABU and SAPO took steps to freeze assets both in Ukraine and abroad. Efforts to locate and seize assets will continue.

A number of additional criminal proceedings have been separated from the main case. Investigations are ongoing into instances of offering and receiving undue benefits in the energy sector, as well as money laundering on behalf of other individuals, the NABU added.
