Bomb Threat Triggers Security Search of Ryanair Flight in Spain

Date:

(MENAFN) Spanish authorities launched a security inspection of a Ryanair aircraft after receiving a bomb threat involving a flight from Manchester that arrived in Murcia, southeastern Spain, on Tuesday.

Francisco Lucas, the Spanish government’s representative in Murcia, confirmed that security measures had been put in place following the threat.

“Security procedures have been activated following a bomb threat involving a plane from Manchester that has landed in Murcia,” he said in a social media post.

“The 114 passengers and seven crew members have disembarked and are undergoing security checks,” he added. “The aircraft is now being inspected.”

The aircraft arrived at Murcia International Airport in Corvera at its scheduled time, according to airport operator Aena.

Airport operations continued without disruption, with other flights proceeding normally, Aena said.

Similar incidents were reported in Poland and Bulgaria on Tuesday.

Warsaw Modlin Airport was temporarily shut down after a bomb threat was reported involving a flight arriving from London.

Meanwhile, counterterrorism officers were sent to examine an aircraft arriving in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, from Israel after authorities received a bomb threat through email.
