Türkiye, South Korea Celebrate Historic Bonds During Erdogan Visit

Date:

(MENAFN) Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan praised the reception extended to her and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during their visit to South Korea on Tuesday, saying the warm welcome reflected the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

In a post on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, she wrote: "The warmth and sincerity with which we were welcomed in South Korea are the most beautiful expression of the deep-rooted brotherhood between our two nations."

She also published photographs from the official welcoming ceremony hosted by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and his wife, Kim Hea Kyung.

President Erdogan and the first lady are visiting Seoul from Nov. 1-4, accompanied by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, National Defense Minister Yasar Guler and Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.

During the visit, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in financing nuclear power projects on Tuesday.

Erdogan has previously pointed to South Korea as a potential strategic partner in Türkiye's plans to construct a second nuclear power plant in Sinop, located along the country's Black Sea coast.
