Yemeni Army Reports Airstrikes on Houthi Positions in Taiz
(MENAFN) The Yemeni army announced Wednesday that its aircraft had carried out six airstrikes against Houthi positions in Taiz province in the country’s southwest.
The Taiz Military Axis Command disclosed the operation through two statements published on Facebook.
According to the first statement, military aircraft conducted three strikes in the southern districts of Al-Misrakh and Samea.
A separate statement confirmed three more attacks targeting Houthi positions on Mount Al-Armah in Jabal Habashi district, west of Taiz.
The military command provided no further details about the intended targets or whether the operations resulted in casualties or damage to property. The Houthis had not issued an immediate response.
Clashes between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis have intensified again since July, particularly across Taiz and Lahj, with thousands of people reportedly killed or wounded, according to UN reports.
Yemen’s conflict began in September 2014, when the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, along with several other provinces. In March 2015, a Saudi-led Arab coalition entered the war in support of the internationally recognized government.
