Russian Strategic Bombers Complete Long Mission Over Bering, Chukchi Seas

Date:

(MENAFN) Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers conducted a planned flight over international waters in the Bering and Chukchi seas, Russia’s Defense Ministry said Monday.

The long-range aircraft operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces remained airborne for more than 13 hours and received in-flight refueling during the mission. Su-35S fighter jets accompanied the bombers, according to the ministry’s statement.

The ministry added that fighter aircraft from other countries escorted the Russian bombers along certain sections of their route.

Russian long-range aviation crews routinely conduct flights over international waters in the Arctic, North Atlantic and Pacific oceans, as well as the Baltic and Black seas, the statement said.

It also maintained that all flights by Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft are carried out in accordance with international regulations governing the use of airspace.
