Iran Says It Never Left Talks, Blames US Demands

Date:

(MENAFN) Iran has not walked away from negotiations with Washington, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei declared on Sunday, laying the blame on what he called US attempts to force through unilateral demands.

In an interview with a German broadcaster, Baqaei addressed the stalled talks, the security of the Strait of Hormuz and alleged operations against air bases in Britain.

“Iran has never left the negotiating table. The problem lies in America’s insistence on its unilateral demands and its attempts to impose them,” he said.

He also rejected any link to the reported strikes on British air bases. “Iran has absolutely no connection to the operations allegedly carried out against air bases in Britain,” he added.

Hormuz: Tehran blames Washington and Israel
On the Strait of Hormuz, Baqaei described the waterway as “not safe,” and put responsibility on the US and Israel.

“The US and Israel have abused this waterway because they continue to use the entire region to carry out their military attacks and unlawful acts of aggression against Iran,” he said.

He warned that for as long as this continues, Iran will have no option but to take the measures needed to protect its territorial integrity, national security and people.
