(MENAFN) Manchester United’s winless streak stretched on Sunday as Bournemouth dismantled them 3-0 at Old Trafford, while Liverpool brushed aside Brighton 2-0 at Anfield in the Premier League.

Bournemouth 3-0 Manchester United
The visitors made the brighter start. Rayan headed a corner over the bar, and Harry Maguire then blocked a follow-up effort from the Brazilian after a slick passing move. Senne Lammens was next to be tested, denying Evanilson after a Rayan cross picked out the striker. United’s first sight of goal came from Diogo Dalot, whose shot from a tight angle sailed over.

The breakthrough arrived just before the interval. After Ayden Heaven was fouled, Justin Kluivert whipped the free kick to the back post, where Rayan drilled a low finish past Lammens in the 41st minute.

United nearly responded at once. Mason Mount released Bryan Mbeumo, but Djordje Petrovic pushed the effort around the post.

Bournemouth struck again four minutes later. Leny Yoro slipped outside his own box, Adrien Truffert seized the loose ball and teed up Tavernier, who finished from close range.

Matheus Cunha came on at halftime as United looked to spark a recovery, but Evanilson had the ball in the net soon after the restart, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Lammens then made two key stops to keep out Rayan, first after the Brazilian ran in behind the defense and then again from a second attempt.

The third goal came when a long ball from Lewis Cook exposed Lammens, who rushed out of his area to clear. Windy conditions held the ball up, letting Evanilson round the goalkeeper and score from a tight angle.

Joshua Zirkzee and Shea Lacey arrived late, but United found no way back. The result prolongs their winless run, while Bournemouth build on their previous league victory over Sunderland. United travel to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Saturday.

Liverpool 2-0 Brighton

Brighton had the first real chance in the 14th minute, when Yasin Ayari fired over from a Gross cut-back.

Liverpool took the lead three minutes later. Wirtz pounced on a loose ball after a Ronald Araujo cross was only half-cleared, and his low shot went in off Gross in the 17th minute. They doubled the lead before the break, in the 21st minute, when a low shot from inside the box deflected off Gross and into the net.

Ayari almost pulled one back with a curling effort that hit the post and bounced clear.

Brighton committed more players forward after the restart, which opened space for Liverpool on the counterattack. The hosts could not find a third despite further chances, but they kept a clean sheet to extend their winning run to four matches in all competitions and climb to fourth in the table.

Sunday’s other results
