Suspected Houthi Missile Blast Rocks Aden Near Army HQ
(MENAFN) A powerful explosion shook Yemen’s southern Aden governorate on Sunday after a suspected Houthi ballistic missile struck near a government military headquarters, according to a local source speaking to a Turkish state news agency.
The projectile came down in a remote, sandy stretch of Bir Ahmed, behind an iron factory in the Al-Buraiqa district of western Aden, said the source, who asked not to be named.
The source reported no casualties and no material damage.
Neither the Yemeni government nor its military forces had issued an official comment as of publication.
The strike lands in the heart of the government’s interim seat of power. Aden serves as the temporary capital of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, which holds large parts of the country’s southern and eastern provinces. The Houthis, by contrast, control the capital Sanaa and much of the north and west.
