Bus Crash Injures More Than Eighty People in Spain’s Barcelona Province

Date:

(MENAFN) At least 83 people were injured after a passenger bus plunged down a 20-meter embankment in Spain’s northeastern Barcelona province, local authorities said Monday.

The accident took place Sunday along a narrow, winding road in Fogars de Montclus, where the bus veered off the route and fell down a steep slope. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to reports.

Catalonia’s Health Minister Olga Pane said 58 passengers suffered minor injuries, 18 sustained moderate injuries and seven were seriously hurt.

No deaths have been reported so far.

However, authorities cautioned that further casualties could not be ruled out because of the challenging terrain surrounding the crash site.

The bus was operating a shuttle service between Montseny Natural Park and Fogars de Montclus, stopping at several locations along the route to collect passengers.
