Riyadh Airport Restores Limited Flights After Houthi Attacks

Date:

(MENAFN) King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has resumed a limited number of flights after remaining closed for around two weeks following attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi group.

Operations restarted at two terminals, with footage showing activity inside the reopened facilities, according to reports.

Terminal 1 has resumed handling domestic services, while Terminal 2 is operating international flights run by Saudi airlines, according to official announcements.

The restart came after extensive coordination between the General Authority of Civil Aviation and security and technical bodies to confirm the airport was prepared to operate in line with safety and security requirements.

However, the reopening applies only to the two designated terminals, and authorities have not announced a full restoration of airport operations.

Airport management issued no further update on Sunday, following a notice released the previous day assigning domestic and international services to the two terminals.

The earlier notice advised travelers with confirmed reservations to check with their airlines for the latest information on their bookings and flight schedules before traveling to the airport.

Flights were halted after a Houthi attack on Oct. 10 reportedly killed 13 people and left more than 300 others injured.
