Iran Seeks To Remove Export Barriers With Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq
Hamid Ghanbari, deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, announced the measures following the 12th meeting of the Economic Relations Coordination Headquarters, which focused on trade diplomacy and non-oil exports, IRNA reported.
The meeting was held at the Foreign Ministry on Saturday, with economic deputies from executive bodies attending to discuss exporters' problems and possible solutions.
Ghanbari said some exporters had been unable to fulfil their commitments because of transport disruptions, while others had received foreign currency to import raw materials but could not complete the imports due to problems along transport and logistics routes.
He said a review of existing regulations and procedures was being considered to address these difficulties, adding that the proposals had been approved by the relevant government bodies.
He added that proposals had also been put forward to resolve problems faced by exporters shipping goods to neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.
Ghanbari said the proposals could be pursued through negotiations with foreign counterparts and would be referred to Iranian embassies and consulates for follow-up.
He expressed hope that implementing the measures would help maintain Iran's current export levels and improve their scale and targeting in the future.
