Derogatory Language Against PM's Parents Will Not Be Tolerated, Will Protest: Sanjay Saraogi
Speaking to IANS, Saraogi reacted to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Using abusive, street-level language against the Prime Minister's late father, Damodardas Mulchand Modi, is something the people of the country and Bihar cannot tolerate under any circumstances,” he said.
“Using derogatory words against his late mother and father, calling him a 'merchant of death,' using terms like 'neech,' and mocking his humble background are unacceptable to the people of the country and Bihar,” Saraogi said.
Controversy erupted after Mallikarjun Kharge lost his cool and made an objectionable remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a Congress event in Bihar's capital Patna, prompting fierce counter from the BJP.
Kharge's controversial comment came in response to a person in the crowd, who was heard shouting "Modi nahin jaayega (Modi won't go/lose power)" to which Kharge said, "Modi ka baap bhi jayega (Even PM Modi's father will have to go)," repeating it not once but thrice.
Subsequently, the man was surrounded by Congress workers, who thrashed him before throwing him out of the venue.
The heated exchange took place during the 139th birth anniversary celebration of Shri Krishna Singh, Bihar's first Chief Minister, in Patna.
Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav described Kharge's remarks as unfortunate and claimed they reflected the thinking of the Congress party and its President.
“Congress national president Kharge's objectionable remarks about PM Modi yesterday were extremely unfortunate. This reflects the thinking of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi and its president. This is the culture of the Congress party, which is why the party has already been finished,” Yadav said.
He further questioned the use of such language in political discourse, saying that differences of opinion could be expressed respectfully without resorting to personal attacks.
“I understand that you can oppose anyone using dignified language, but resorting to abuse or making such remarks raises questions about political ethics,” he said, adding that such statements were detrimental to the standards of Indian politics.
