(MENAFN) Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will make an official visit to Türkiye on Oct. 22-23 at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran announced Wednesday.

In a statement posted on the US social media platform X, Duran described the visit as a historic step in relations between the two countries, saying both sides are expected to upgrade their ties to a strategic partnership.

During their meetings, Erdogan and Carney will assess the full range of bilateral cooperation and discuss measures to expand and strengthen relations between Ankara and Ottawa.
