FAA Certifies Boeing 737-10, Largest 737 MAX Variant

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified the Boeing 737-10, the largest and newest member of the 737 MAX family, clearing the way for deliveries to begin in the coming months.

The certification, the American planemaker announced on October 20, completes the 737 MAX lineup, giving Boeing what it calls the most efficient and flexible single-aisle airplane portfolio in the industry.

The 737-10 can seat up to 230 passengers in a maximum configuration and offers the lowest per-seat costs of any single-aisle aircraft currently in service, according to Boeing.

The variant also provides 365 nautical miles more range than competing aircraft that lack auxiliary fuel tanks, along with an enhanced Angle-of-Attack system that will now become standard across the entire 737 MAX family.

"Completing the certification program clears the path for us to deliver a Boeing airplane that will set a new standard in commercial aviation," said Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

He added that the 737-10 offers greater capacity, longer range, and the best seat economics in its class, calling it a platform that will create new value for airlines worldwide.

More than 30 customers globally have ordered the 737-10, with bookings totaling 1,555 aircraft so far, accounting for over 30% of the 737 MAX program's current order backlog.

Boeing noted that the 737-10 is the first commercial aircraft certified under the full scope of the 2020 Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act, which requires expanded documentation of safety assessments and human factors reviews.

The certification process included more than 2,000 flight test hours and 1,000 hours of ground testing, along with extensive documentation and formal consultations with the FAA, the manufacturer said.

Chris Payne, Vice President and General Manager of 737 Airplane Development Programs, said the flight test team ran a disciplined, methodical campaign to validate every system on the aircraft.

"That rigor gives us confidence as we move toward deliveries," Payne said, adding that he was proud of the team's focus throughout the certification process.

The 737 MAX family offers a range of 135 to 230 seats to suit different airline network needs. Boeing has logged 7,350 orders for the program so far, of which nearly 2,500 had been delivered through the end of September 2026.

In a two-class layout, the 737-10 will typically carry between 185 and 210 passengers and will be capable of flying up to 3,100 nautical miles (5,740 km).

Boeing said the aircraft's technological upgrades also deliver a 20% reduction in both carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption compared with earlier generation single-aisle jets.
