Lévy Gorvy Dayan Mounts Francis Bacon And Willem De Kooning Show

Date:

(MENAFN- USA Art News) A new exhibition titled“Bacon / de Kooning” will open at Lévy Gorvy Dayan on November 4, uniting works by Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning. The show aims to highlight how both the Irish-British figurative painter and the Dutch Abstract Expressionist found creative expression through paint, despite their stylistic differences. It will feature rarely exhibited pieces by both artists.

This exhibition follows the only previously documented meeting between Bacon and de Kooning, which occurred in 1975 at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The show at Lévy Gorvy Dayan is a non-selling exhibition. It joins other ongoing de Kooning presentations at the Art Institute of Chicago and Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum. Recently, de Kooning's untitled work from 1977 sold for $12.9 million at Sotheby's.
