Apple Expands US Supplier Network for New iPhone Models

Date:

(MENAFN) Apple has established new manufacturing agreements and strengthened existing partnerships with American suppliers to secure essential materials and components for its iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro models, the company announced Tuesday.

The arrangements involve Perryman Company, a titanium producer based in Pennsylvania, and Qnity Electronics, headquartered in Delaware. Both partnerships fall under Apple's American Manufacturing Program, according to a company statement.

Apple plans to invest up to $100 million in Perryman over the next three years. The company will provide titanium for several Apple products, including the iPhone Duo, which is described as Apple's first foldable smartphone.

At least 80% of the titanium supplied for the device's exterior casing will consist of recycled material, supporting Apple's efforts to incorporate recycled resources into its products.

Apple is also broadening its collaboration with Qnity Electronics to produce advanced films in the United States for the variable aperture camera system featured in the iPhone 18 Pro.

The technology is integrated into the device's 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera, allowing it to regulate how much light reaches the sensor. This enables improved light capture in dim environments while helping preserve finer details under brighter conditions.

Apple said American companies manufacture nearly 100 components used across the two iPhone models, with its supply network extending across more than a dozen states.

Other manufacturing partners involved in its domestic production operations include Broadcom, Corning, Coherent, TSMC and Amkor Technology.
