Türkiye's Fergani Places New Test Satellite into Orbit
(MENAFN) Turkish space technology firm Fergani has successfully placed its sixth experimental satellite, FRG-100D4, into orbit during SpaceX's Bandwagon-5 mission, according to an announcement by its manufacturer, Baykar.
The satellite detached from its launch vehicle around 63 minutes after liftoff and reached its designated orbit at an altitude of 590 kilometers (367 miles) at 3:07 p.m. local time, the company stated.
Established by Baykar Chairman and Technology Leader Selcuk Bayraktar, Fergani Space Technologies developed the spacecraft using locally engineered technologies and domestic production capabilities.
According to the company, the latest satellite features several technical enhancements compared with its predecessors, reflecting continued progress in Türkiye's indigenous space technology capabilities.
The spacecraft is equipped with a range of domestically developed systems, including a reaction wheel, magnetic torque rod, magnetometer, inertial measurement unit (IMU), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver, steerable solar panels, battery pack, regenerative modem and phased-array antenna.
It also features an artificial intelligence-powered onboard computer intended to enable more sophisticated space operations and support increasingly advanced missions.
