Lebanon, Israel Begin US-Mediated Military Talks in Florida
(MENAFN) Lebanese and Israeli representatives began military and technical discussions Tuesday at the US Central Command (CENTCOM) headquarters in Tampa, Florida, under American mediation, according to diplomatic sources in Beirut.
The negotiations are intended to assess progress in implementing the “framework agreement” signed in June and examine proposed “pilot areas” in southern Lebanon where Israeli forces are expected to withdraw.
The meetings form part of Washington's efforts to oversee compliance with the agreement as Israeli attacks on locations in southern Lebanon continue.
The discussions focus on monitoring the implementation process and addressing arrangements related to the anticipated Israeli military withdrawal.
