Ukraine Seeks US Support for Air Defense, Missile Warnings
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday, focusing on securing air defense equipment, improving alerts about ballistic missile attacks and restoring Starlink and Starshield services.
Zelenskyy characterized the phone discussion as "a substantive conversation," according to a statement shared on Telegram.
"The first issue was interceptors against ballistic missiles, which are needed to protect lives. The second was early warning of Russian ballistic missile attacks, which is vital. The third was the situation surrounding Starlink/Starshield, which needs to be restored," he said.
The Ukrainian leader expressed appreciation to Rubio for his readiness to provide assistance and for maintaining what Zelenskyy described as a clear position on the issues discussed.
The conversation came as diplomatic initiatives continue in an effort to bring the war to an end. Both officials agreed to hold another discussion soon to share further updates, Zelenskyy added.
