Olivia Zubko's“Nymphaeum” At Western Exhibitions Merges Mythology With Modern Rituals
Zubko's wall sculptures evoke altars dedicated to lavatories, drawing a parallel to historical nymphaeums. These ancient monuments were often built around natural grottoes and consecrated to water nymphs during the Hellenistic and Roman imperial periods. Today, the artist suggests, similar rituals of allure can be found in everyday spaces like medicine cabinets or gyms.
The exhibition features works such as Olivia Zubko 's“Echo's Basin” ( 2026 ), created from glazed stoneware, glazed porcelain, and metal hardware. Another piece,“Circe” ( 2026 ), utilizes glazed stoneware and synthetic hair.
