Profile Articles

I am a PhD student in Education at Queen's University, specializing in educational assessment and evaluation. My research focuses broadly on classroom assessment and how teachers design, interpret and use assessment to support student learning. My interests include fair and inclusive assessment, formative feedback, teacher education, teacher assessment literacy, multilingual learner equity, self-regulated learning and the influence of assessment on learner identity.

I hold an MA in English Language Teaching and a BA in English Language and Literature. My master's research explored novice teachers' use of formative assessment through reflective journals. I also hold the Trinity College London Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DipTESOL) and am an IB-certified Language A: Literature teacher.

I bring more than 20 years of experience as an English language teacher, teacher educator, assessment practitioner and curriculum designer across K–12, adult and teacher education settings. At Queen's, my teaching and research connect classroom-assessment theory with practical questions facing teachers and learners in diverse educational contexts.
