Zelenskyy: Ukraine Got No Warning Before Russian Missile Barrage

Date:

(MENAFN) Ukraine received no advance warning from its partners before Russia launched the first wave of ballistic missiles overnight, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday, raising alarm over intelligence sharing and restricted Starlink service after talks with two US senators.

Zelenskyy said he spoke with US Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Thom Tillis about intelligence cooperation and Starlink operations inside Ukraine. In a post on X, he said speed limits on Starlink and Starshield services remain in force across various sections of the front.

Kyiv has been given no answers on either matter, he said.

“No explanation for either of these issues has been provided to Ukraine by the American side,” he said.

Tillis, in a separate statement, said Zelenskyy also voiced concern over delays in deliveries of air defense interceptors. He warned of the consequences of Washington’s current course.

“Degrading Ukraine’s satellite communications, weakening its air defenses and easing sanctions against Russia only embolden Putin and prolong this war,” he wrote on X.

Tillis added that Zelenskyy restated his readiness to stop strikes on Russian energy facilities, provided Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to do likewise.

Congress, Tillis said, remains committed to backing Ukraine and its European allies, using sanctions against those who enable Russia’s war and pursuing a lasting peace.
