Russia Proposes Cabinet Changes with Five Senior Appointments
(MENAFN) Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has submitted five nominations for senior government positions to the State Duma as part of a Cabinet reshuffle, according to an official government statement released Monday.
The proposed changes follow parliamentary elections held in September, which brought a newly constituted lower house into office.
The government said the nominations were finalized following discussions between Mishustin and Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the prime minister formally forwarding the agreed candidates to lawmakers in accordance with constitutional requirements.
Among the proposed appointments, Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin has been nominated for the position of deputy prime minister. Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of Primorye Territory, has been proposed as deputy prime minister while also serving as presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.
First Deputy Finance Minister Irina Okladnikova is another candidate for deputy prime minister, with an additional responsibility as head of the government staff.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov has been nominated to hold the posts of deputy prime minister and finance minister simultaneously.
Meanwhile, Dmitry Yadrov, who currently heads the Federal Air Transport Agency, known as Rosaviatsiya, has been proposed to take over as transport minister.
The nominations now require approval from the State Duma under Russia's constitutional framework before the appointments can be finalized.
