Rubio Rejects Zelenskyy’s Claims of US Intelligence Suspension
(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday denied allegations by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Washington had temporarily halted intelligence sharing with Kyiv amid ongoing Russian attacks.
"There has been no pause," Rubio told reporters, rejecting the Ukrainian leader’s account.
Rubio also challenged Zelenskyy’s decision to raise the issue publicly, saying political leaders should concentrate on diplomatic initiatives aimed at bringing the conflict to an end.
"I do not know where he is getting these things from or why he is saying these things to the press," Rubio said.
Responding to questions about Ukraine’s complaints that it had not received advance warnings before Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv overnight, Rubio declined to discuss the latest military operations.
He explained, however, that US European Command had recently examined a technical software malfunction that affected early warning systems several days earlier.
The secretary of state’s remarks came after Zelenskyy discussed the alleged interruption during a televised interview on Sunday.
The Ukrainian president said intelligence transfers had been interrupted temporarily during Russian ballistic missile attacks, before US authorities eventually restored the communications channel.
